Just a Few Thoughts

Some things I've been noticing since getting to Paris:

1. It's kind of dirty. And smelly. But really pretty!!! =D
2.There is an interesting mix of architecture--the new mixed in with the old!
3. Jogging apparently is kind of weird for the French.
4. Showers are different here. It's hard to explain. I miss U.S showers lol!
5. I went grocery shopping today. It took me 5 minutes to find normal yogurt. It should take NO person that long to find yogurt lol!
6. I have been unsuccessful in my hunt for peanut butter. I am not giving up hope yet lol!
7. The only place I can recharge my cell phone (pay as you go phone) is in a tabacoo shop--kind of interesting pairing lol
8. At orientation they taught us about how to do this brush off parisien style that is neither "oui" or "non". It's kind of like a non-commital grunt. It says "no", but in a parisien way. I had to do it today in the metro....twice. I feel like a jerk. But if I don't, apparently they'll pick pocket me lol!
9. Parisiens don't smile. But apparently that's normal...especially on the metro.
10. I'm learning how not to stick out like a tourist/American (until I open my mouth that is lol).
11. The metro is kind of amazing. We need to get one for Tacoma. Really, we do...
12. My host dad has awesome taste in music...I'll be just fine here.
13. I'm walking everywhere. It's great!
14. I'm getting more and more comfortable with the city everyday.
15. I'm getting really good at J-walking. Here that, Dad? Yeah, that's right, I'm a really good J-walker now. It's kind of a must in Paris. It's almost safer to J-walk than it is to wait for the little green people to light up telling you to cross. In the end, any time you step foot on the street, there's always a chance you will get hit by a car--they come out of nowhere! Mopeds are the worst though...especially the police mopeds.
16. If you don't have a scarf on, you might as well be naked.
17. Everyone wears black in the winter. Also, boots seem to be a must-have.

Silly things I've done that make me look like a tourist:

1. Drop all of my Euro coins when attempting to buy metro tickets--needless to say I had an audience, a French one.
2. Fail to open the metro doors and thus miss my stop--haha that was fun...not...
